[Yay! The lost food page has been found!]
There is always a hot breakfast at bnb~hiouchi — it’s included in the price of the room — but guests can also opt in for simple lunches and informal, family style dinners.
The goal is to let guests concentrate on the trees and trails rather than spend time seeking out decent food (or worse, surviving on a diet of fast-food lunches and dinner). Why not chill out and let me do the cooking?
I price my meals at cost + expenses only (around $8 for lunch, dinner is $20 per couple).
I always have some tasty wines from Safeway which I’m happy to provide at cost.
Here a sampling of what I might cook you and your family:
Slow-cooked pork in tangy BBQ sauce
Stir fried chicken and veggies in a soy-ginger sauce (w/caramelized nuts if you like)
Honey-glazed balsamic chicken
Grilled skewers (chicken, beef, shrimp, or vegetarian)
Sautéed shrimp in smoked paprika and garlic
Pasta in a traditional tomato sauce (in the mix: mushrooms, onion, peppers, zucchini, garlic, wine)
Stove-top sautéed salmon steaks cooked in sesame oil and crushed sesame seeds or maybe a with a rub of garlic and smoled paprika
Tofu and veggie stir-fry in a soy-sesame sauce
Quick sautéed swiss chard
Stove-top sautéed or grilled zucchini
Boiled or grilled corn on the cob
Stir fry green beans (hot-spiced with nuts, or simple salt and pepper)
Green-leaf lettuce salads topped with veggies and goat cheese (I usually make a balsamic-mustard vinaigrette)
Guacamole (home-made) and chips
Potatoes: baked whole or tangy roasted French fries or traditional mashed with garlic and butter
Steamed rice (there’s always rice at the bnb)
Dessert is usually ice cream, cookies or fresh fruit (or all three).
I can add tofu to just about anything I sauté and I’m happy to cook vegetarian.
My goal is to provide simple but healthy meals so you have more time for family, sight seeing and relaxing.
Here is a gallery of food shots — some the meals and dishes I’ve made recently. I hope it gives you an idea of what I can cook up for you at bnb~hiouchi.
