Over coffee one morning, bnb guest Shelley McNeal asked for some recommendations on places to visit in the area. I rattled off a few of the more notorious destinations. At the last minute I added one more — a drive down Wonderstump Road I suggested.
I don’t know much about the road save for the drama. Dozens of massive redwood stumps are visible from the road, the result of logging that took place in the 1880. It is a mysterious and sometimes eerie spot, the road now lined with hundreds (some say thousands) of planted redwoods.
Shelley and Fred took me up on my recommendation and while driving on Wonderstump, Shelley took this beautiful photo.
** And below is a postcard of the actual stump the road gets its name from.
