Today we returned to the Grove of Titans, this time moving past El Diablo, which sits at the outer reaches of the Grove, to the more intense and deeply beautiful inner grove where the Screaming Titans and many other giants grow.
Taken in as a group, these trees do a good job of taking ones breath away. In the winter mist, the blue-green color of the ferns and sorrel and the often silver-ish bark of the trees makes for a surreal and almost psychedelic visual experience. And there is music, too. The central area of the grove sits along side the stream Sillett and Taylor walked through to originally find the grove (see The Wild Trees for the reference) so there is also a lovely soundtrack of rushing water in the grove.
