It’s a runner’s world. We just live in it.
Or so it seemed with Chelsea and Micah. Training for a marathon, they arrived with purpose and goals sketched not in pencil but ink. For a quick two days, it was a mash-up of running and redwoods as they hit Damnation Creek, Coastal, the Boy Scout Tree, Stout, Simpson Reed, and the Hatton-Hiouchi trails for a double hat-trick of redwood viewing and trail running.
I get tired just thinking about it.
With unusually long stretches of dry weather, travelers this winter who paid no head to the historical record and committed to time in the redwoods are finding the conditions absolutely glorious — for running or just about anything else. Clear skies, crisp temps, dry trails.
A couple of days after Chelsea and Micah returned home, though, the rain returned. Did these two get lucky or did they know something I didn’t? Odds makers in their own right, maybe I’ll have to follow them to one of the local casinos next time they are in redwood country.
