Our rock stars aren’t like your rock stars.
Our rock stars come to the forest armed with cheese, wine, art, and a keen sense of nature they hope to hone and make keener. That pretty much describes Lisa and Robin who were on their way from an art show in Portland to their homes in the drier climes and higher hills of Nuevo Mexico.
Their approach to nutrition and diet, focused as it was, seemed out of sync with the usual fare in these parts so we rallied what sprouts and veggies we could and holed up for the better part of two days in the kitchen, on the deck and in the woods. When the last of the tuna was tucked away and final drops of pinot poured we made a pact to meet again on their terms and in their backyard, outside of the redwoods zone but in a place with its own unique ecology. Our trees are taller but their sky is bigger, or so they said. We shall see.
